Nice location with good transport link by bus to Oxford.

I didn't like the parking arrangments. At first parking was allowed - then it wasn't - or maybe it still was if you'd surrender your car keys. Another example of the inconsistancy was that for 3days I was served with a cooked breakfast preceded by porage, but on the 4th day I was told by the daughter of the couple running the guesthouse that "we are not supposed to do that" - so no porage from then on. Also, I didn't like being told I couldn't leave when I handed in the key, even though I told this same daughter that I had paid. This had to be checked before I was allowed to leave.

    Exceptional

The ambiance of Lakeside Guesthouse was delightful. The location was close enough to Oxford centre to walk, but there was also a bus stop directly outside. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful

    Good

Convenient for the city centre, clean and basic. Very comfy bed. Nice extras' in the bathroom. Breakfast was fine.

Bemused how it came to be a 4* guesthouse. The bedroom was very small, the shower dripped, the plug sockets were too far away from the plugs for the kettle and radio/clock so had to put them on the floor. The television didn't work properly. In the evening we were cold as the heating wasn't on. We tried to ring a bell in the hall to call someone's attention but no one came.

    Fabulous

Good location, relatively close to city centre and with car parking facilities. Family room available, which was of a good size and well-equiped. Good breakfast.

    Fabulous

Accommodations were quaint and clean; we had a lovely large private bath with shower. Owners were pleasant, and helpful. They offered a fabulous breakfast, and had parking on site.

    Exceptional

We were only staying in Oxford overnight and needed somewhere close to the centre with comfortable rooms and parking. Lakeside offered all this and was very good value. We had booked a family room for 3 but when the owner saw my husband was tall she offered us an upgrade to the family room for 4 at no extra charge as she said it would be more comfortable. The room was tastefully furnished and very comfortable with an impeccably clean, modern ensuite bathroom with a wonderful power shower. The free wifi facilities were very useful and the television was a bonus for my daughter. The owners were very friendly and welcoming and the breakfast in the morning was very tasty. The best thing about the hotel was it's close proximity to the centre - just a few minutes walk. There was also a bus stop just outside.

    The breakfast was nice.

The room was no bigger than a box and was a bit grubby. Overpriced for what it was (no more than a b&b). They told us on the phone that we were booked in for 2 nights, then when we were there we were told we were not booked in for the second night, so we had to find another Hotel. Blessing in disguise, however, as the one that we found was loads better.

    Fabulous

Very nice and well-maintained room. The staff were very friendly. Super breakfast and breakfast service. Very well situated for Oxford city center.

It was a bit noisy (near to road) and since it's an old house it was a bit creaky. Neither of these are things that the management could do anything about though, so I give them top marks for everything else.

    Superb

    Friendly owner, clean & quiet.

    Exceptional

Loved my room up under the eaves. It wouldn't have been comfy for a very tall person given the low ceilings but it was private, charming, quiet, and had a great view over a nearby park and playground. Easy fifteen- minute walk into the center of town. The guesthouse staff were very friendly, and the breakfast was good.

    Good

It was very convenientlhy situated for walking into Oxford

We had a room at the front and the traffic was noisy. This was partly our fault as we like to sleep with the window open! We stayed 2 nights and although the room was cleaned for the second night, we think (although cannot prove, obviously) that the bed was just 'pulled up' as the bottom sheet was still very crumpled and not smoothed out! We had to straighten it ourselves and this is unacceptable when paying for hotel accommodation. This is not a complaint, because we were unaffected by the omission, but it was something I did not like.

    Very good

The b&b was a short walk into the centre of Oxford. We stayed in a triple room which was clean and spacious.

The breakfast was of a poor standard. The room was warm at night but the road noise was too much to have the window open.

    Very good

Comfortable spacious room, well equipped, lovely shower and spotlessly clean. Easy 10 minute walk into town, well situated.
